Azerbaijan-Albania cooperation thriving as presidents meet to discuss shared goals
On March 13, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Albanian President Bajram Begaj to discuss bilateral cooperation and key international issues.
During the meeting, Bajram Begaj congratulated President Aliyev on Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He highlighted that significant achievements were made during the negotiations, leading to the adoption of crucial decisions regarding the global climate agenda.
The Albanian leader emphasized the strong and growing partnership between Albania and Azerbaijan, not only in political relations but also across multiple sectors, including economy, trade, energy, and tourism. He particularly underscored the importance of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project and expressed satisfaction with Azerbaijan’s role in Albania’s gasification initiative.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked Bajram Begaj for his congratulations, noting that, despite the short preparation period, Azerbaijan had successfully organized COP29 at a high level. He also recalled with satisfaction the adoption of key decisions aimed at addressing climate challenges during the conference.
Addressing bilateral ties, President Aliyev praised the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Albania, highlighting the successful cooperation in the energy sector and reaffirming Azerbaijan’s commitment to Albania’s gasification project.
The discussions also covered broader prospects for cooperation between the two nations, as well as significant issues on the bilateral agenda.
Additionally, the two leaders acknowledged the importance of the XII Global Baku Forum in facilitating discussions on international affairs. President Bajram Begaj expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to participate regularly in this prestigious event.
