Azerbaijan, China discuss expanding cooperation in energy, trade, and security

On April 2, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, welcomed Liu Jianchao, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, for a meeting in Baku.

During the meeting, President Aliyev expressed his hope that Liu Jianchao’s visit would serve to further strengthen the already friendly relations between Azerbaijan and China, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The Azerbaijani leader highlighted the positive trajectory of bilateral ties, noting that these relations cover a wide range of areas.

The President particularly underscored the significance of the "Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China," which was adopted following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping last year. Aliyev described the declaration as a symbol of the friendship, partnership, and cooperation between the two nations, which has elevated the level of mutual activities and collaboration.

President Aliyev further expressed his firm belief that the relations between Azerbaijan and China would continue to flourish, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in political, economic, and transportation sectors. He also highlighted how these collaborations are vital for strengthening regional security and fostering multilateral cooperation.

Liu Jianchao, in turn, conveyed his honor in meeting with the Azerbaijani President. He extended the greetings and best wishes of President Xi Jinping to President Ilham Aliyev. The Azerbaijani President thanked Liu for the warm greetings and requested that his own regards be passed on to Xi Jinping.

Liu also shared that this was his first visit to Azerbaijan, and he expressed his deep impression of the development processes he had observed in Baku. The two leaders discussed expanding economic and trade relations, cooperation in renewable energy, and key transportation initiatives such as the Middle Corridor and the "Belt and Road" project.

Additionally, the two sides agreed on the importance of strengthening the relationship between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of China.
