Azerbaijan, Georgia explore health cooperation at COP29 PHOTO
The Azerbaijani and Georgian health ministers held a meeting on the margins of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral ties and cooperation in the field of healthcare, Caliber.Az reports.
Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev highlighted the historical and cultural commonality between the Azerbaijani and Georgian peoples, which forms the foundation of the strong relations between the two nations. He emphasized that the traditionally friendly ties between the two countries have deep historical roots, contributing to their long-standing partnership.
Musayev also noted the significant role of high-level reciprocal visits in fostering deeper cooperation between the two countries across various sectors, particularly in healthcare.
Minister Musayev stressed that Azerbaijan and Georgia share substantial potential for expanding cooperation in the healthcare sector. He pointed out the existing opportunities for the exchange of modern methodologies, scientific knowledge, and practical information, particularly in the area of continuous professional training for medical specialists.
Musayev also underscored the relevance of the issues discussed at COP29, particularly the global medical community's role in addressing the health impacts of climate change and contributing to improved health security worldwide.
In his remarks, Mikheil Sarjveladze, Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia, commended the high level of bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and his country. He reiterated the historical friendship between the two nations and praised the organization of COP29, recognizing Azerbaijan’s pivotal role in shaping the conference’s agenda. Sarjveladze affirmed interest in strengthening cooperation with Azerbaijan's Ministry of Health, especially in areas like the training of qualified healthcare professionals.
The meeting concluded with both sides exchanging views on further collaboration in healthcare and other mutually beneficial areas, emphasizing the continued development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia.
