Azerbaijan hosts formal welcome ceremony for Turkmen president PHOTO

An official welcome ceremony was held in Baku on June 22 for Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Azerbaijan on a state visit.

A guard of honour was assembled in a square decorated with the national flags of both countries, marking the formal reception for the visiting head of state, Caliber.Az reports via state media. 

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev personally welcomed Berdimuhamedov upon arrival. The commander of the honour guard delivered a formal report before the national anthems of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan were played.

The guard of honor marched past President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the accompaniment of a military march.

Members of the Azerbaijani delegation were presented to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, while members of the Turkmen delegation were introduced to President Ilham Aliyev.

The two leaders posed for official photographs.
