Azerbaijan, IsDB move to scale up cooperation during high-level meeting PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB), on May 6, with discussions focusing on expanding strategic cooperation, advancing joint investment projects, and coordinating preparations for upcoming high-level events in Baku.
During the meeting, the previous encounters between President Ilham Aliyev and Muhammad Al Jasser were recalled with satisfaction, with emphasis placed on the latter’s visits to Azerbaijan as an important contribution to strengthening the bilateral partnership, Caliber.Az reports via the presidential website.
The long-standing and effective cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Islamic Development Bank Group was also highlighted.
It was noted that the Bank has been actively involved in financing a range of projects across Azerbaijan, including in the fields of energy, green energy, agriculture, water and irrigation systems, transport infrastructure, and social development. In this context, it was underlined that the Bank has allocated more than $1.2 billion for the implementation of nearly 20 public and private sector projects in the country.
The discussions also covered preparations for the Islamic Development Bank Group’s Annual Meetings, which are scheduled to take place in Baku this June. Muhammad Al Jasser stated that during his visit, he would also tour the Alat Free Economic Zone and travel to Karabakh.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Islamic Development Bank Group.
