Azerbaijan, Japan abolish double taxation

Azerbaijan and Japan have completed all the necessary procedures to eliminate double taxation.

In this way, the “Convention between Japan and Azerbaijan for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance” will enter into force on August 4, 2023, Caliber.Az reports, citing the press service of Japan's Foreign Ministry.

According to the convention, the provisions concerning the exchange of information and the assistance in the collection of taxes will have effect from August 4, 2023, without regard to the date on which the taxes are levied or the taxable year to which the taxes relate.

Notably, the convention was signed between the two countries on December 27, 2022.
