Egypt's al-Sisi receives phone call from Trump, discuss Gaza ceasefire

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call from US President Donald Trump on February 1, during which both leaders discussed issues relating to the implementation of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire implementation. 

According to a press release issued by the Egyptian State Information service, both parties "fostered a positive discussion between the two Presidents, underscoring the critical importance of advancing the implementation of the first and second phases of the ceasefire agreement, and ensuring the stabilization of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip."

Both leaders extended an open invitation to each other, with Egypt's al-Sisi inviting Trump to attend the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The press release did not include details regarding Trump's prior proposal of possible resettling Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and Jordan. Trump previously said that he had already discussed this matter with King Abdullah II of Jordan and planned to address it with President al-Sisi as well.

The presidents also stressed the significance of increasing meetings between the relevant officials from both sides to forge closer bilateral relations across all domains and to explore solutions to various issues.
