Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have discussed the development of bilateral relations, with a particular focus on expanding mutual trade in various sectors of the economy.

Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Bulgaria Huseyn Huseynov held meetings with Bulgaria’s newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov and Minister of Economy and Industry Peter Dilov, Caliber.Az reports.

“Had the pleasure of meeting with the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications of Bulgaria, Mr. Grozdan Karadjov and Minister of Economy and Industry of Bulgaria, Mr. Peter Dilov. Issues of connectivity and transport communications, cooperation opportunities within the Trans-Caspian East-West Middle Corridor initiatives, further developing Azerbaijan-Bulgaria trade-economic relations, in particular in the non-energy sector, and facilitation of investment capacities were extensively discussed at the meetings,” Huseynov wrote on X.

According to Bulgarian media, during his meeting with Huseynov, Minister Dilov emphasised that a key priority for Bulgaria is increasing the volume of direct Azerbaijani investments in the country.

"It is crucial for us to promote the export of Bulgarian goods to Azerbaijan, including machinery, electronics, food industry equipment, lifting and transport equipment, pharmaceuticals, etc," Dilov said.

He noted that Azerbaijan and Bulgaria have significant potential for expanding cooperation in agriculture and the food industry.

During the meeting, priority sectors were also identified where the two countries should focus their efforts, including IT, pharmaceuticals, transportation, tourism, and energy. Ambassador Huseynov emphasised Azerbaijan’s readiness for active cooperation.

"Bulgaria and Azerbaijan have a serious potential in bilateral trade, especially if both countries work actively on diversifying exports and imports," the diplomat's words were quoted by Bulgarian media.
