Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan forge alliance on decarbonisation initiatives
Leading state-owned energy firms from four Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at advancing decarbonisation and sustainable development initiatives.
Azerbaijan’s SOCAR, Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas (KMG), Russia’s Tatneft, and Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz signed the deal on the sidelines of the international conference “Sustainable Development: Joint Steps Towards Decarbonisation”, held in Astana, Caliber.Az reports per KMG.
The agreement is intended to facilitate the exchange of expertise in environmentally safe technologies and the implementation of green energy projects.
The heads of the respective companies — KMG Chairman Askhat Khasenov, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, Tatneft CEO Nail Maganov, and Uzbekneftegaz Chairman Bakhodirjon Sidikov — all attended the event and took part in the signing ceremony.
The pact marks a joint effort by key regional energy producers to align with global climate goals while continuing to participate in international energy markets.
