Greece explores business opportunities in Azerbaijan’s Alat Free Zone

Greece has expressed interest in exploring opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation with Azerbaijan, particularly through the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ).

The issue was discussed during a meeting between Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan Maria  Papakonstantinou and the management of the AFEZ Authority, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

During the meeting, AFEZ Authority Chairman of the Board Valeh Alasgarov briefed the Greek diplomat on the zone’s regulatory and legal framework, as well as its operational infrastructure.

Alasgarov highlighted the zone’s completed internal and external infrastructure, industrial plots equipped with engineering and communications networks, a comprehensive package of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, and functioning transport and logistics facilities.

Papakonstantinou, in turn, emphasized the attractiveness of AFEZ’s legal framework and its fully developed industrial sites for potential investors. 

The ambassador also expressed readiness to help promote information about AFEZ among relevant Greek business circles and prospective investors, particularly companies operating in pharmaceuticals, renewable energy and other high-value-added sectors.

The initiative is aimed at increasing awareness of investment opportunities available in the free economic zone and encouraging potential cooperation between Azerbaijani and Greek businesses.
