Azerbaijan takes new step in digital development with DCO membership

Azerbaijan has joined the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO), a step that will give the country access to advanced digital practices, international standards, and new opportunities for cooperation in the digital economy.

Membership in the organisation is expected to create a range of important opportunities for Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

Through the DCO platform, Azerbaijan will have access to advanced digital policy practices, international standards, and opportunities for knowledge exchange. The country's startups will also be able to expand into the markets of DCO member states, take part in joint acceleration programmes, and establish links with venture capital funds.

“Azerbaijan will further strengthen its role as a digital bridge between the South Caucasus and Central Asia. In terms of the digitalisation of public services, the country will also be able to benefit from the experience of DCO member states in e-government, artificial intelligence, and smart solutions,” the ministry said.

At the same time, Azerbaijan will have an opportunity to present its ICT potential to the DCO and its member states, highlighting the work carried out under the Digital Development Council, the infrastructure and capabilities established to support digitalisation, and major projects implemented in recent years. The exchange of expertise and experience is expected to further strengthen Azerbaijan’s export potential in digital products and services.

Established in November 2020, the DCO is a global multilateral organisation focused on accelerating inclusive growth in the digital economy and promoting digital prosperity for all.
