Azerbaijan moves to open embassy in Portugal as parliament advances bill
Azerbaijan’s Parliamentary Committee on International and Interparliamentary Relations has recommended a draft law on establishing an Azerbaijani embassy in Portugal for consideration at an extraordinary parliamentary session.
The bill, titled “On the Establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Portuguese Republic,” provides for the embassy to be located in Lisbon, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The proposal was approved at the committee level and forwarded for discussion at a forthcoming extraordinary parliamentary session.
In related diplomatic developments, Portuguese President António José Seguro, in a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev dated June 5, said that the establishment of embassies would contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
