Azerbaijan, Pakistan strengthen strategic ties in high-level parliamentary meeting
Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Sahiba Gafarova, met with Qasim Mohiuddin, Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, to discuss the enduring strategic partnership between the two nations.
During the meeting, Speaker Gafarova recalled with appreciation the recent official visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to Azerbaijan, as well as the trilateral summit in Lachin involving the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. She emphasized the summit’s pivotal role in further solidifying the bonds among the three brotherly countries, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Ambassador Mohiuddin highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal and friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. He also briefed Speaker Gafarova on the ongoing Pakistan-India conflict, expressing gratitude for Azerbaijan’s unwavering support across multiple spheres.
Reaffirming Azerbaijan’s commitment to peaceful resolution, Speaker Gafarova underscored the importance of dialogue and adherence to international law, including relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, in addressing the conflict. She also lauded Pakistan’s steadfast support for Azerbaijan’s just position during the 44-day Patriotic War.
The discussion underscored the vital role of interparliamentary cooperation in advancing bilateral relations. Speaker Gafarova referenced her official visit to Pakistan in 2021 and her engagements with parliamentary counterparts during various international forums hosted there. Both sides acknowledged the strong legislative ties existing between their countries, in both bilateral and multilateral contexts, as well as the significance of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Türkiye trilateral cooperation framework.
The meeting concluded with a dialogue on additional areas of mutual interest, reaffirming the shared commitment to enhancing collaboration and strategic partnership.
