An online ceremony was held on June 22 to present the “Dostlug” (Friendship) oil tanker, with the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The vessel, gifted by Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan, was constructed at the Baku Shipyard. It has an overall length of 141 metres, a width of 16.9 metres, and a draft of 4.54 metres, with a deadweight capacity of 7,875 tons, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The project highlights the development of Azerbaijan’s shipbuilding industry and contributes to strengthening friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. It also demonstrates the shipyard’s capacity to carry out large-scale and technologically complex shipbuilding projects.
The Baku Shipyard has so far built 14 ships and repaired more than 170 vessels. At present, it has an order portfolio of 17 ships, with construction underway on 11 and six in the design stage.
