Azerbaijan reduces maximum age for military conscription
29 December 2024 18:21
In a significant policy change, the Azerbaijani government has reduced the maximum age for military conscription.
The amendments, which were approved by President Ilham Aliyev, are part of revisions to the law "On Military Duty and Military Service", Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani President’s website.
The new legislation mandates that Azerbaijani male citizens between the ages of 18 and 30, who have not completed compulsory active military service, will now be eligible for conscription. Previously, the age limit for conscription was extended up to 35 years.
Additionally, the amendments lower the maximum age for serving in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces from 36.5 years to 31.5 years.
