Azerbaijan remains main importer of Russian grain, minister says
Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Azerbaijan remain the main importers of Russian grain.
Russian Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev made the remark at the All-Russian Grain Forum, Report informs.
According to the minister, Russia has exported 35 million tons of grain this season, including 28.5 million tons of wheat.
By the end of the season, he noted, grain exports should exceed 37 million tons.
"In the upcoming season, we estimate the foreign trade potential of grains at 50 million tons. Today the situation in the world dictates us new challenges and, accordingly, all states need to take quick decisions," Patrushev said.
He said that the ministry sees an increase in world demand for basic food products and first of all grains.
"In addition, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations warns of the urgency of world hunger issues. I would like to emphasize that in order to increase world food security, Russia is ready to provide our foreign partners with quality products. However, in the current situation it will largely depend on the logistics capabilities, and as you all know very well, there are difficulties here, and it's not a secret for anyone," Patrushev added.
According to the minister, due to the actions of some international logistics companies, the delivery of Russian food, including grain, to consumers is "seriously limited".
