Azerbaijan’s president approves amendments to law "On Defence"
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has approved amendments to the Law “On Defence.”
The revised law now defines territorial defence as a comprehensive set of nationwide military and special measures aimed at safeguarding and protecting the country’s territory, including the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the amended law, territorial defence is carried out by the Armed Forces in coordination with state authorities, local self-government bodies, and legal entities.
Prior to these amendments, territorial defence was understood primarily as measures to protect the state border, maritime shores, islands, critical infrastructure, and communication lines against enemy aggression, as well as actions to counter enemy landing forces and reconnaissance-diversion groups, and to maintain the regime of martial law.
