Azerbaijan’s president, first lady visit tomb of National Leader Heydar Aliyev at Alley of Honors Photo
On May 9, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the tomb of the country's National Leader, Heydar Aliyev, at the Alley of Honors.
The visit marked the eve of the 102nd anniversary of Aliyev’s birth, recognising his pivotal role as the architect and founder of modern, independent Azerbaijan, and his status as one of the nation's most revered figures, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
During the visit, President Aliyev laid a wreath at Heydar Aliyev's tomb, paying homage to the legacy of the National Leader. First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva joined in the tribute.
The ceremony was accompanied by a performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan.
Following the tribute to Heydar Aliyev, the President and First Lady placed flowers at the grave of his wife, Zarifa Aliyeva, an esteemed ophthalmologist and academician. They also paid respects to Aziz Aliyev, a distinguished statesman, and Professor Tamerlan Aliyev.
