Azerbaijan, Turkish Cyprus discuss cooperation at Antalya meeting PHOTO/UPDATED
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Tufan Erhürman in Antalya, where the two sides discussed bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
Aliyev congratulated Erhürman on his election as president, while Erhürman expressed gratitude for the message of support, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani president’s website.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted Azerbaijan’s continued support for the TRNC. Erhürman thanked Baku for its backing, while Aliyev reaffirmed that Azerbaijan “always stands by the TRNC” and will continue this support in the future.
The discussions also focused on parliamentary diplomacy, including the recent third meeting of friendship groups involving the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, and the TRNC Assembly, held in Baku this month.
The sides further underlined the importance of the TRNC’s observer status in the Organization of Turkic States and exchanged views on expanding cooperation in various fields.
