Azerbaijan to develop agropark in Russia’s Dagestan
Azerbaijan will develop an agropark in the Derbent district of Russia’s Dagestan region following an agreement signed at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026), marking a new step in agricultural cooperation between the two sides.
The deal was concluded between Azerbaijani company ISFA and Dagestani firm RBR, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
ISFA Director Samir Heirbeev and RBR Chief Executive Ruslan Gereev signed the agreement in the presence of senior officials from both Azerbaijan and Dagestan, including Acting Head of Dagestan Fyodor Shchukin, First Deputy Economy Minister Elnur Aliyev, and Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia Rahman Mustafayev.
The project carries an estimated value of more than 3.4 million manats and sets out plans for large-scale agricultural development in the village of Velikent. ISFA will establish a 300-hectare olive grove, a 20-hectare sapling nursery, a 40-hectare demonstration orchard with multiple fruit varieties, as well as a breeding garden and a 10-hectare agro-tourism zone.
ISFA will source saplings and fruit trees from its farm in the Yevlakh pilot agropark in Azerbaijan, strengthening integration between domestic production and overseas agricultural projects.
The agreement also outlines a second phase that includes construction of an olive oil production facility within the agropark
