Azerbaijan to hold nationwide population census Presidential decree

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree ordering a nationwide population census to be conducted from October 1 to October 31, 2029, according to the presidential administration.

The decree states that the census will be the first carried out since Azerbaijan fully restored its territorial integrity and state sovereignty, Caliber.Az reports.

Under the decree, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan will be responsible for preparing and conducting the census, processing the data, and publishing and disseminating the results.

Population censuses are conducted to collect demographic, social, and economic data that help inform government planning and policymaking.

Azerbaijan's previous nationwide population census was held in October 2019, also under the supervision of the State Statistics Committee.
