President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan held talks on February 14 in Munich with Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova, focusing on bilateral cooperation, energy ties and cultural relations.
The meeting covered prospects for expanding cooperation in energy, including electricity exports, as well as agriculture, tourism and coordination within international organisations. Bulgaria’s support for strengthening Azerbaijan’s relations with the European Union was also noted, Caliber.Az reports via state media.
Ms Iotova recalled her participation in Azerbaijan’s Intercultural Dialogue Forum and said she had been deeply impressed by the country’s cultural heritage, including Novruz traditions and mugham music. She expressed gratitude for the work of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in supporting the restoration of the Trapezitsa Architectural Museum Reserve in Bulgaria.
The two sides welcomed the recent signing of an agreement between their governments and the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo on cooperation in the creation and reconstruction of “Shusha” Park in the city.
President Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan will host the World Urban Forum in May, with Bulgaria expected to be represented at a high level.
