Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister Rafiyev holds series of meetings at UNGA81 PHOTO

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev has participated in a series of high-level events and held bilateral meetings on the fourth day of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Rafiyev participated in a high-level ministerial session dedicated to the implementation of the two-state solution, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

He also addressed a high-level event on the Climate Implementation Bridge (BRIDGE) initiative, organised by Türkiye’s COP31 Presidency. Rafiyev stressed that ambitious climate plans must be accompanied by robust implementation mechanisms. He also noted that the BRIDGE initiative complements the BICFIT Dialogue launched during Azerbaijan’s COP29 Presidency.

The deputy foreign minister also delivered closing remarks at a high-level event titled “Building Alliances and Strengthening Cooperation Along Migration Routes,” co-organised by the UN migration agency, Azerbaijan and other partners.

Rafiyev stressed that migration routes should not be viewed merely as pathways to be managed, but also as platforms for cooperation, shared responsibility and mutual benefit.

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Rafiyev held a bilateral meeting with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

The sides discussed partnership and cooperation during and beyond Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the 82nd session of UNESCAP.

Rafiyev also held talks with Saeed Al Hajeri, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and co-chair of the Azerbaijan-UAE Joint Committee on Strategic Partnership.

The meeting focused on key issues on the bilateral partnership agenda and upcoming activities within the framework of the Joint Committee.
