Azerbaijani police seize large consignment of drugs PHOTO/VIDEO

Employees of Azerbaijan's Main Anti-Drug Department conducted operational activities to combat drug trafficking, as a result of which 31 suspects were detained.

The Interior Ministry's press service told Caliber.Az that police officers conducted operations against members of an organized group smuggling drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan, as well as individuals involved in the sale of drugs in Baku, Sumgayit, Lankaran, Absheron, Beylagan, and other areas. During the last 10 days of operations, 31 people were detained.

A total of 243 kg of narcotic substances - heroin, opium, hashish, marijuana, methamphetamine as well as 5,300 methadone tablets were seized from them. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at 13 million manats ($7.6 million).
