Iranian national arrested in Baku in major drug trafficking operation
An Iranian national was arrested in Baku on December 19 following a police operation targeting illegal drug trafficking, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Rahmat Djabrailnejad, born in 1978, was detained by officers from the Ministry’s Main Directorate for Combating Drugs on suspicion of drug trafficking, Caliber.Az reports.
Authorities seized a significant haul of heroin, 450 methadone tablets, and electronic scales during a search of his residence.
The suspect reportedly claimed to have obtained the drugs from a hidden stash in the Yasamal district of Baku.
Djabrailnejad is said to have been a key supplier in the region’s drug trade, with his name linked to several drug-related criminal activities.
A criminal investigation has been launched, and Djabrailnejad remains in custody.
