Azerbaijan puts Karabakh, Zangazur monuments under state protection PHOTO
A session of the Expert Council for the Identification of Immovable Cultural Assets under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture was recently convened to review and safeguard the nation’s historical heritage.

Fariz Huseynli, head of the press service of the State Service for the Protection, Development, and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, stated that the Council has examined 500 monuments and newly identified sites, with evaluations provided by the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan under legal requirements, Caliber.Az reports.
As a result of these efforts, 51 newly identified monuments were officially registered in 2025. Seven of these are located in Baku, while 44 are situated in the recently liberated territories of the country.
Furthermore, ongoing monitoring identified 41 sites of historical, architectural, and archaeological significance, which are now under consideration for state protection, highlighting Azerbaijan’s commitment to preserving its cultural heritage.
