Azerbaijan holds cultural heritage awareness event in Prague PHOTO
An awareness campaign highlighting the historical and cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan and Karabakh has been held at Prague’s Old Town Square as part of Azerbaijan’s 2026 “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture”.
The event featured a photo exhibition titled “Western Azerbaijan, Karabakh: From Yesterday to Today – Architecture, Cultural Heritage and the Path to Peace and Security”, according to Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with the Diaspora.
The exhibition presented photographs depicting the historical and cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan and Karabakh, as well as its destruction during the occupation.
Members of the Azerbaijani diaspora provided local residents and foreign tourists with information about historical monuments and their fate, while informational brochures on the subject were also distributed.
Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Czechia, Yashar Aliyev, embassy staff and Czech SPD party members Milan Urban and Sergei Zuyev attended the event.
Participants said such initiatives contribute to preserving historical memory, promoting cultural heritage internationally and strengthening mutual understanding between peoples
