Kazakhstan extradites Azerbaijani fraud suspect to face charges
Kazakhstan has extradited Azerbaijani citizen Adalat Mustafayev to Azerbaijan after he was detained there while wanted internationally on fraud charges, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office said.
The extradition request was approved by Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office under the Convention on Legal Assistance signed on October 7, 2002, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office told local media.
Mustafayev is accused of fraud committed by a group of people acting under a prior agreement, resulting in significant financial damage. He was placed on an international wanted list after evading the investigation.
He was detained in Kazakhstan and returned to Azerbaijan under the escort of a special convoy from the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
