A documentary highlighting the selfless efforts by Azerbaijani search-and-rescue teams sent to Türkiye in the immediate aftermath of the devastating 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake premiered this week.
The film “Rescuers” (Canqurtaranlar), produced by Azerbaijan’s state television (AzTV), was unveiled at Baku’s Nizami Cinema, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The premiere was attended by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Birol Akgün, officials from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, members of the deployed rescue teams, and other dignitaries.
In his remarks, Ambassador Akgün praised Azerbaijan’s solidarity during the earthquake, noting that the country dispatched search-and-rescue teams to the affected region without waiting for any official invitation. “Their prompt response and dedication brought hope to those trapped and affected by the disaster,” he said.
The documentary seeks to commemorate the bravery and humanitarian commitment of Azerbaijani rescuers, whose efforts were instrumental in saving lives and providing relief to those impacted by one of Türkiye’s most catastrophic natural disasters in recent memory.
