Azerbaijan jails men for funding terror networks in Syria

The Baku Court for Grave Crimes has concluded the trial of Abdulsamad Atayev and Elnur Rafiyev, who were accused of financing terrorist activities in Syria.

The verdict was delivered under the supervision of Judge Vugar Guliyev, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

The court sentenced both Atayev and Rafiyev to 10 years of imprisonment, to be served in a high-security correctional facility.

The two defendants were arrested as part of an operation conducted by the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan. They faced formal charges under Article 214-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which pertains to the financing of terrorism.
