Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, discussed hosting the 2027 session of the Muslim Council of Elders in Azerbaijan.
The talks took place during Pashazade’s meeting in Abu Dhabi with the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders and Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, Mohamed Abdelsalam, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The parties also exchanged views on various intra-Islamic, interfaith, and intercultural events planned in Azerbaijan and abroad in 2026.
During his visit, Pashazade participated in several sessions at the Zayed National Museum, attended by Heydar Aliyev Foundation Vice President Leyla Aliyeva, Uzbekistan’s Presidential Administration Chief Saida Mirziyoyeva, and other members of the Human Fraternity Award jury.
The Muslim Council of Elders is an independent international organisation founded in July 2014 to bring together respected Muslim scholars, leaders, and thinkers with the goal of promoting peace, tolerance, coexistence and discouraging conflict and sectarian divisions within Muslim communities.
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, this council works through dialogue, educational initiatives and global outreach to address the root causes of violence, promote moderate Islamic teachings, and strengthen mutual understanding among different groups.
It engages in interfaith and intercultural dialogue around urgent global issues such as intellectual security, climate action and peacebuilding, with programmes aimed at fostering collaboration among religious and civil society leaders worldwide.
