Azerbaijan, US explore expanded cooperation in healthcare PHOTO
Azerbaijan and the United States are seeking to strengthen collaboration in the healthcare sector, officials said following a meeting between Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev and representatives of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
During the discussions, participants reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation in healthcare and explored opportunities for further development, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Health.
Key topics included modernising Azerbaijan’s healthcare system, introducing innovative medical technologies, and enhancing collaboration in the pharmaceutical industry and medical education.
Minister Musayev highlighted recent reforms in Azerbaijan’s healthcare sector, led by President Ilham Aliyev, which focus on improving the quality of medical services, developing human capital, and advancing digitalisation initiatives. He stressed the importance of expanding mutually beneficial partnerships with international companies, including those from the United States.
Jennifer Miel, Vice President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for the Middle East, Central Asia, and Türkiye, expressed keen interest in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan. She underscored the potential for American companies to contribute expertise and technology in healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on prospective areas for future collaboration, signalling a shared commitment to strengthening ties between Azerbaijan and the United States in the health sector.
