Euronews highlights winter tourism in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan
Euronews has featured winter tourism in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The article, titled “A Winter’s Tale in Azerbaijan: From Thrilling Slopes to Serene Forest Trails”, highlights Azerbaijan’s tourism potential under the section “Nakhchivan: Remote and Untouched Winter Beauty”, Caliber.Az reports citing foreign media.
Nakhchivan, located in a remote western exclave, offers a unique winter experience, rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage. Starting points for exploring the region's heritage include Nakhchivan City and the medieval city of Ordubad. Home to the Lesser Caucasus Mountains, Nakhchivan is also where Azerbaijan’s newest ski resort, Agbulag, is located, near the village of the same name at an altitude of 2,000 meters.
The resort caters to both beginner and advanced skiers, featuring a ski school, family entertainment parks, and a hotel. In the Shahbuz region, the village of Kükü is a year-round attraction for nature enthusiasts. In winter, the area offers stunning trails through snow-covered valleys and nearby mineral springs, such as Gurbulag Spring, which is believed to have therapeutic properties. With its serene atmosphere and relatively low foot traffic, Nakhchivan is a hidden gem for hikers seeking a peaceful winter getaway.
