Azerbaijan, Kenya strengthen ties with key talks on climate, education, culture
During her visit to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, met with Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto.
During the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva conveyed greetings from the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to the Kenyan leader, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The discussions focused on the strengthening of bilateral relations and the potential for cooperation between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by Azerbaijan's First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, and Kenya in various sectors.
Leyla Aliyeva emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation, particularly through projects under the Foundation's initiative "Development of Education and Culture in African Countries." These projects are expected to focus on education, health, the environment, climate change, culture, and exchange programs, alongside joint efforts in presenting artworks at international events.
President Ruto praised the expansion of bilateral relations, particularly highlighting Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in November.
He noted the great potential for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kenya in various areas, including climate action, energy, trade, investment, tourism, education. Ruto also emphasized the vital role of projects supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the fields of education, health, culture, and other humanitarian efforts.
The meeting concluded with President Ruto accepting an invitation from President Ilham Aliyev to visit Azerbaijan.
