Leyla Aliyeva: IDEA promotes sustainable cities through green spaces
The IDEA Public Union has carried out a wide range of environmental and educational initiatives, including large-scale tree planting campaigns, children’s education programmes, workshops, awareness-raising activities on water and air pollution, as well as the production of documentary films and the organisation of exhibitions, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, said.
In a message to participants of an event held within the framework of the 13th World Urban Forum (World Urban Forum 13), Aliyeva said the organisation is working to improve the urban environment by making cities more comfortable for both people and nature, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“IDEA transforms courtyards into greener and more accessible public spaces for people of all generations, encouraging them to spend more time outdoors and breathe clean air. Green barriers are being installed in residential areas to create more resilient neighborhoods. The organization also actively promotes sustainable transportation by encouraging the use of bicycles. In addition, coastal cleanup campaigns and plastic waste collection drives for recycling are being carried out,” she said.
She also noted that IDEA has collected more than 120 tons of waste.
“Through these and other efforts, IDEA aims to create a healthier and greener future, while also building a strong foundation of environmental responsibility among the younger generation,” Aliyeva emphasised.
