US Embassy in Azerbaijan marks Memorial Day, announces closure
The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan has issued a Memorial Day statement honouring members of the United States Armed Forces who died in service, while also confirming that its offices will be closed on Monday, 25 May, in observance of the US federal holiday.
In its message, the embassy said Americans mark Memorial Day each year by paying tribute to service members “who made the ultimate sacrifice” in defence of their country, Caliber.Az reports.
It noted that as the United States approaches 250 years of independence, the occasion serves as a moment of reflection and gratitude for those who died “in defence of freedom, peace, and the values that continue to unite and inspire us”.
“Their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” the statement added.
