Azerbaijani president and family commemorate Heydar Aliyev at Alley of Honour
Today marks 22 years since the passing of Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of modern independent Azerbaijan, a world-renowned political figure, and the national leader of the Azerbaijani people.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva visited the grave of Heydar Aliyev at the Alley of Honour, Caliber.Az reports, citing the official website of the president.
President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the grave of the great leader.
The state anthem of Azerbaijan was played.
The head of state, the First Lady, and their daughter also paid tribute to Heydar Aliyev’s life partner, the distinguished ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, laying flowers at her grave. They also honoured the memory of the prominent statesman Aziz Aliyev and Professor Tamerlan Aliyev, placing flowers at their graves.
