Azerbaijani President: Armenia planted over million landmines during occupation
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said that Armenia had planted over a million landmines in the Azerbaijani lands during the period of occupation.
The president made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the first National Urban Forum in Aghdam on October 5, Report informs.
“This policy of terror against Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanis continues. Azerbaijan is facing a challenge to return internally displaced people to their houses due to mines,” President Aliyev noted.
“More than 250 Azerbaijanis have died or have been severely wounded as a result of mine explosions since the end of the war. Unfortunately, their number is growing every week. Two were killed and three were severely wounded last week. Armenia planted over a million mines during the period of occupation,” the president said.
