Azerbaijani president celebrates Eid al-Adha with message of solidarity and peace
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has extended his congratulations to the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, conveying his wishes in an official message published on the Head of State’s website, Caliber.Az reports.
In his address, the president congratulated both citizens within the country and Azerbaijanis living abroad, emphasising the spiritual significance of the holiday.
"I cordially congratulate you and all our compatriots living outside the borders of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the holy Eid al-Adha, and extend my most sincere wishes to each of you," the message reads.
Highlighting the religious and moral importance of Eid al-Adha, President Aliyev noted that the holiday reflects Islam’s role as a guiding path for humanity, centred on spiritual and ethical values. He underscored that during these sacred days, millions of Muslims gather for the Hajj pilgrimage, united by shared ideals.
"During the days of Eid al-Adha, which symbolises Islam’s revelation to humanity as the final divine religion and a path toward spiritual and moral salvation, millions of Muslims come together for the Hajj pilgrimage, experiencing the pride and joy of unity, equality, and readiness for any sacrifice in the name of noble ideals," he stated.
The president also pointed to the national traditions associated with Eid al-Adha in Azerbaijan, noting that the holiday’s observance strengthens social cohesion and reinforces core values within society.
"The sacrificial ceremonies, celebrated every year in our country as a nationwide holiday, further strengthen the feelings of solidarity, humanism, and compassion among people, turning into a triumph of benevolence and adherence to national and moral values in our society," the message said.
Addressing the nation directly, President Aliyev paid tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives, while also offering prayers and well-wishes for the country’s continued peace and prosperity.
"Dear sisters and brothers!
In these blessed days, we once again commemorate the immortal memory of our martyrs with gratitude. Praying that your supplications for the peace and tranquility of our people and state be accepted by the Almighty, I wish your families happiness and your tables abundance and prosperity.
Happy Eid al-Adha!" the message concludes.
