Azerbaijani president concludes his working visit to Italy
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev concluded his working visit to Italy on September 6.
President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva were seen off by Italian officials at Milan Malpensa Airport, Caliber.Az reports.
The visit began on September 4 when President Aliyev arrived in Rome at the invitation of Italian President Sergio Mattarella. It highlighted the strong diplomatic and economic ties between Azerbaijan and Italy.
On September 5, President Aliyev enjoyed a working lunch with President Mattarella. The same day, he met with Giorgia Meloni, the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, to discuss and advance bilateral relations. Their meeting started with a one-on-one discussion before expanding to include delegations from both sides, focusing on enhancing economic and trade relations, particularly in industry and energy, and exploring new areas of cooperation in humanitarian and cultural sectors.
The Italy-Azerbaijan University project, a collaboration between ADA University and Italian institutions, was highlighted as a key initiative for strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties.
The visit also featured a document exchange ceremony attended by President Aliyev and Prime Minister Meloni, cementing various agreements between the two nations.
Additionally, President Aliyev participated in the International Forum "Intelligence on the World, Europe, and Italy" in Cernobbio, organized by The European House – Ambrosetti think tank. There, he addressed the forum on Azerbaijan’s role in the evolving geopolitical landscape.
