Azerbaijani president condoles with Australian PM over Sydney terrorist attack
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
In the letter, published on the president’s official website, Ilham Aliyev expressed his condolences over the large number of people killed and injured as a result of a terrorist attack carried out during Hanukkah celebrations in Sydney, Caliber.Az reports.
The shooting at Bondi Beach's Archer Park killed at least 15 people, including children and a rabbi, and injured over 40 others when two gunmen—a father and son duo—opened fire on a crowd of around 1,000 gathered for the "Chanukah by the Sea" event. Australian authorities declared it a targeted antisemitic terrorist incident, with Prime Minister Albanese describing it as "pure evil" and "an act of antisemitism." One gunman was killed by police, the other critically injured and in custody; improvised explosives were found in their vehicle.
