Azerbaijani President condoles with Head of Dagestan over terror attacks
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter to the Head of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation Sergey Melikov, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azertag.
The letter reads as follows:
“Dear Sergey Alimovich,
It is with profound sorrow that I received the news of the terrorist attacks in Derbent and Makhachkala, which resulted in numerous casualties.
Sharing in the grief of irreparable loss, on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and personally, I extend my sincere condolences to you, the families, and loved ones of the killed, as well as to the entire people of Dagestan. I wish a speedy recovery to all those affected.”
To recall, on the evening of June 23, there was an attack on a synagogue and a church in Derbent, on a church, a synagogue and a traffic police post in Makhachkala, and on a car in the centre of Sergokala village. More than 15 police officers and several civilians were killed. The number of wounded in the terror acts was 34 people, including 27 police officers.
