Azerbaijani president, first lady pay tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev Photo
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the tomb of architect and founder of the modern and independent Azerbaijani state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the Alley of Honours on May 9, ahead of the 103rd anniversary of his birth on May 10.
President Aliyev laid a wreath at the tomb of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and paid tribute to the National Leader. First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva also paid tribute to the National Leader, Caliber.Az reports via state media.
The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed during the visit.
The head of state and the First Lady then placed flowers at the grave of Heydar Aliyev’s wife, academician and ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva.
They also paid tribute to prominent statesman Aziz Aliyev and professor Tamerlan Aliyev at the Alley of Honours.
