Azerbaijani president hails EU leadership appointments, pledges enhanced cooperation
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has extended his congratulations to the European Union's newly appointed and re-elected leaders, highlighting the strength of bilateral relations and the prospects for continued cooperation in various strategic sectors.
In a message addressed to Her Excellency Madame Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, the Azerbaijani president expressed optimism for further collaboration, Caliber.Az reports via Azertag.
"Dear Madame President,
I congratulate you on your re-election as President of the European Commission.
There are effective partnership relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union in the fields of economy and trade, transport and communication, security, and particularly in the strategic energy sector, which plays a crucial role in ensuring Europe's energy security.
I am confident that we will continue to make joint efforts to comprehensively develop cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union based on mutual respect and equal rights.
I extend my best regards to you and wish success in the upcoming activities of the European Commission in its new composition," the letter reads.
Similarly, in a message to His Excellency Mr. António Costa, President of the European Council, the Azerbaijani leadership underscored the importance of Azerbaijan-EU cooperation and the shared commitment to advancing mutual interests:
" Dear Mr. President,
I congratulate you on assuming the office of President of the European Council.
The cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union spans a broad agenda, covering a wide range of areas, including energy, green energy, transportation, trade, and more. Azerbaijan's significant role in ensuring Europe's energy security is undeniable.
I believe that we will make joint efforts to develop political dialogue, economic and trade cooperation, and cultural exchanges between Azerbaijan and the European Union in line with our mutual interests, strengthening our constructive partnership.
