Azerbaijani president, Slovak speaker explore defence cooperation, direct air links PHOTO / Updated
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held one-on-one and expanded meetings with Richard Raši, Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, in Bratislava.
The Speaker welcomed President Aliyev, who signed the guest book before their discussions, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The meetings began with a one-on-one session, followed by an expanded meeting with delegations from both countries
During the talks, Speaker Raši congratulated President Aliyev on advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia and on the signing of the historic normalisation document. He also highlighted the strong relations between the two parliaments, recalling his visit to Azerbaijan, including Karabakh, and noting Slovak companies’ participation in the reconstruction of Bash Garvand village in the liberated Aghdam district as a sign of bilateral friendship.
President Aliyev expressed gratitude for the congratulations and underscored the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, signed last year, stressing the continued development of bilateral relations.
The two sides emphasised the role of parliamentary diplomacy and reviewed cooperation between their legislative bodies in international parliamentary organisations. Opportunities for collaboration in energy, the defence industry, humanitarian affairs, sports, direct flights, tourism, and other fields were also discussed.
