Azerbaijani president, Iran's presidential advisor discuss key developments in bilateral relations PHOTO

On April 1, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Mehdi Sanaei, the Political Advisor to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Mehdi Sanaei expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed the greetings of Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, to President Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

In response, President Aliyev thanked Mehdi Sanaei for the greetings and asked him to pass on his regards to President Pezeshkian.

During the meeting, Mehdi Sanaei recalled his previous visits to Azerbaijan and praised the country's continuous development. He emphasized Iran’s strong commitment to strengthening relations with neighboring countries, particularly Azerbaijan, with which it shares deep historical, religious, and cultural ties. He noted the positive trajectory of bilateral relations across all fields.

President Aliyev highlighted the shared values between Azerbaijan and Iran and spoke positively about the recent reciprocal visits between the two nations. He expressed hope that Mehdi Sanaei's visit would serve as a productive opportunity to discuss key issues on the bilateral agenda.

The two sides also discussed various areas of cooperation, particularly in transport, including the development of the North-South Transport Corridor. They reviewed potential collaborations in the economic, trade, and energy sectors, and also examined the activities of the intergovernmental commission.

In addition, the construction progress of the bridge over the Araz River in the Aghbend direction was another topic of discussion, with both sides exchanging views on its ongoing development.
