Azerbaijani president marks next stage of Great Return in Zangilan, eyes strategic future
During a meeting with residents of Mammadbayli and Aghali villages in Zangilan district, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev described the occasion as “the next stage of the Great Return.”
The program, first launched in Zangilan, aims to facilitate the return of residents to areas liberated from occupation, rebuilding communities and restoring infrastructure, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“People have already been living in the first village, Aghali, for three and a half years. Excellent conditions have been created there and are being well maintained,” President Aliyev noted, reflecting on the progress made in revitalizing the district.
The president also highlighted the strategic importance of Zangilan in Azerbaijan’s broader economic and transport plans. “This place, this region will become one of the most important transport hubs. Both the Zangazur Corridor and the Araz Corridor will pass through here,” President Aliyev stated, emphasizing the role of the district in connecting the country to regional and international trade networks.
Commenting on the broader implications for the region, the President added: “Therefore, this region will have a bright future – just as the future of all of Garabagh and East Zangazur. Today's reality, the cities and villages we have built are evidence of that.”
