President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov in Gabala on October 7.
The information was published on the official website of the Azerbaijani head of state.
During the meeting, Berdimuhamedov conveyed greetings from Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, which Aliyev warmly reciprocated. The two leaders reflected on their past meetings and Berdymukhamedov’s visit to Azerbaijan in July, describing bilateral relations as rooted in brotherhood and mutual respect.
Discussions focused on preparations for the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organisation of Turkic States, which will be held in Gabala. Both sides underlined the summit’s importance in strengthening cooperation and fostering closer ties among Turkic nations.
Aliyev and Berdymukhamedov praised the steady progress in Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan relations across multiple areas — including energy, transport, culture, and education — and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration both bilaterally and within international organisations.
