Azerbaijani, UAE presidents attend global sports event in Abu Dhabi PHOTO / Updated

On December 17, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is paying a visit to the United Arab Emirates at the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In Abu Dhabi, President Ilham Aliyev held talks with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azertag. 

The UAE leader expressed appreciation for President Aliyev’s participation in the opening ceremony of the Games of the Future 2025, a major international phygital sports event hosted in Abu Dhabi.

President Aliyev thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for the invitation and congratulated the UAE on the successful organisation of the tournament.

During the meeting, both sides underlined the strong development of Azerbaijan–UAE relations, which are founded on a strategic partnership and continue to expand across a wide range of areas, including politics, the economy, energy—particularly renewable energy—as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The presidents also recalled with satisfaction their previous mutual visits and high-level exchanges, noting their significant contribution to strengthening bilateral ties. Views were exchanged on future opportunities for cooperation.

Following the talks, Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the opening ceremony of the Games of the Future 2025.

The Games of the Future is an annual international sporting competition combining traditional physical sports with digital disciplines under the theme “Next Gen Human. Play the Future.” Athletes from various countries will compete in 11 disciplines. The UAE secured the right to host the 2025 edition after outbidding nine other candidate countries.

Later, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan hosted a luncheon in honor of President Ilham Aliyev.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is visiting the United Arab Emirates at the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The leaders held a bilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi today, according to the Presidential Press Service.

Following their discussions, both presidents attended the opening ceremony of the annual global sporting event, the Games of the Future 2025.
