Azerbaijani president meets with Maldivian counterpart in China PHOTO

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev held a meeting with President of the Maldives Mohamed Muizzu in Tianjin, China, on September 1, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

President Muizzu recalled his visit to Azerbaijan during COP29 with satisfaction, highlighting the high level of organisation of the conference and the discussions held with President Aliyev.

Aliyev noted that, following the discussions at COP29, the Azerbaijani delegation visited the Maldives for political consultations and to explore cooperation in trade, economic, and investment sectors.

During the meeting, both leaders emphasised the significant potential for tourism development, discussed the role of direct flights between Azerbaijan and the Maldives, as well as visa facilitation and the expansion of the legal framework for bilateral cooperation.

At the conclusion of the talks, President Muizzu invited Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to the Maldives, which Aliyev accepted.
